Arsik is one of Tapanuli's famous traditional foods. This food is also known as goldfish with yellow spice. Goldfish is the main ingredient, in which its fins are not removed. Arsik spice is very unique, containing several unique components from mountainous area of North Sumatera, such as andaliman and cikala tamarind (kecombrang fruit), besides general special spice of the archipelago, such as galingale and citronella. Grinded spices are poured on the fish for a moment. Then, the fish is cooked with a little soil and small fire until it's somewhat dry.
